When Only Mummy Will Do: Toddler Parent Favouritism

Having your toddler showing favouritism to one parent is completely normal. But it is also extremely challenging. My son is so attached to me that even having me leave the room can send him in a meltdown. I hear the words “I want Mummy” at least twenty times a day. Poor Daddy has to deal with him screaming “I don’t want you, I want Mummy” also at least twenty times a day. Here are some ways we have learnt to cope in our household.
